Sree Narayana Kendra was established in the year 1975 as a charitable organization registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. Justice VR Krishna Iyer was the founder President of the Kendra. The othr founder members who signed the Memorandum of the Kendra were S/Shri K. Balakrishnan M.P, N. Sreekantan Nair M.P, Major N. Vasudevan, PK Ramakrishnan, Mavelikara Ramachandran, PV Ranganathan, D. Vasudevan, CK Karunakaran, MC Bose, Adv. KT Harindranath, K. Balakrishnan Nair, M. Shankaran Kutty, PS Narayanan and Kamala Chandramohan. Other founder members here Dr. Henry Austin .P, S. Kumaran M.P, Smt. KRK Menon, Dr. KNS Nair, VP Ramachandran, Smt. H. Padmanabhan, K. Ananthakrishnan, KS Menon, N Raghunath, AR Sankaranarayanan, Sanyasini Devaki, Smt. Leela Nambiar, IKK Memnon, TN Sugathan, NK Menon, M Krishnan Kutty, R. Sundaranm, PK Padmanabhan and PP Lakshmanan. PS Narayanan was the first General Secretary.

The sitting President is Mrs Beena Baburam, CEO, Pavilion Interiors (I) Pvt.Ltd, NOIDA.
Sree Narayana Kendra Delhi was inaugurated by Shri BD Jatti, Hon’ble Vice President of India on 27th April 1975 at a public meeting held at India International Centre, New Delhi. On the occasion, the Vice President of India said: “Sree Narayana Guru’s message ‘ One Caste, One Religion and One God for Man’ is modern and universally acceptable. It is in keeping with the spirit of the times and our endeavors to create an egalitarian, casteless society. Even though Sree+ Narayana Guru confined his activities to Kerala, His message was spread widely all over the country and is an inspiration for those who are trying to bring true equality between man and man”.
Justice VR Krishna Iyer and Shri SS Dhavan, Member of the Law Commission and former Governor of West Bengal also addressed the inaugural function. Messages of good wishes were received from the President and Prime Minister of India and were read at the meeting.
The Kendra has an office at 206, Pocket 5, Mayur Vihar-I, Delhi- 110 091. It has also acquired a land measuring 442.25 sq. meters in Dwarka, New Delhi allotted by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) at Plot No.2, HAF, at Pocket 3, Sector-7, Dwarka, New Delhi where the Kendra has constructed a huge building consisting of Ground + 3 floors. The Stage-I of the building has already been completed and the formal inauguration has already been done on 25th Aug. 2013 by the Hon’ble MOS (Independent Charge), Food & Consumer Affairs,
Govt. India on the day of 159th Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti celebrations. The Stage-II of the building consisting of Guru Pratishta, Charitable Clinic, Laboratory, Reference Library, etc are in the process and the same is expected to be completed by 2015 or so.
The Kendra celebrates Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti every year as a Communal Harmony Day in which religious leaders as well as educational experts from different communities are being invited to deliver speeches to create awareness of communal harmony among the members.
The Kendra conducts Annual Essay Competition for the school children – for Juniors and Seniors in all the three languages – English, Hindi & Malayalam. There will be three prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in all the three languages. The winners will be given cash prizes, mementos and merit certificates which will be presented to them by the Chief Guest who comes to inaugurate the Guru Jayanti Celebration of that year.
The Kendra also carry out various charity activities like Free Dental Check up camp, free Eye check up camp, Blood donation camp, free distribution of blankets to the Leprosy patients and Rikshaw pullers. Also extend financial assistance to the needy people for meeting their medical expenses etc.
The Kendra conducts Prayer meetings on every 4th Sunday of the month. Apart from prayer, intellectuals are being invited to deliver prabhashnams on various subjects of interest and also about Guru and His teachings. This will be followed by Annadanam. Each Prayer meeting is being sponsored by devotees of the Guru. The Mahila Wing members voluntarily and dedicatedly prepares delicious food for the entire devotees who participate in the Puja & Bhajna.
The Kendra observes Guru Samadhi every year and distribute food to about 3500-4000 poor people.
It is one of the active members of the Confederation of Sree Narayana Guru Organisations (SNGC) and its first President was our Vice President, late Adv. Shri V. Asokan.
