Shree Narayana
Together we can and together we will.
Utilizing the network of Universal Confederation of Sree Narayana Organizations.
Although this much quoted saying has found wide acceptance due to its simple but very realistic logic, it has never been more in relevance in the present and future times. Our revered Shree Narayana Guru always exhorted down-trodden masses to unite and strive towards liberation from discrimination, neglect, humiliation to lead a peaceful and dignified life. In His far-reaching wisdom, He formed the first Association – SNDP – towards realizing this goal. The Association worked towards eradication of evil customs that only served to hinder equality and economic prosperity amongst the people.
Such was the progress achieved by SNDP Yogam in bringing about social changes, that even other communities, irrespective of the boundaries enforced by a rigid caste system started taking notice and in a short while began emulating the same. In a matter of a decade, these diverse communities spanning across both backward and forward sections established multiple such organizations. 1904 saw the Vakkam Islam Dharma Paripalana Samajam being formed under the leadership of Vakkam Abdul Kadar Moulvi. Then in 1905 the Sadhujana Paripalana Sangham was formed by Shri Ayyankali. Further in 1907, we witnessed the Yoga Kshama Sabha formed by the Namboothiri Community. And in 1914, the Nair Service Society (NSS) was formed by Shri Mannath Padmanabhan.
Our Guru’s vision that “School is the supreme place of worship” and “We need more schools than temples” infused these diverse organizations with the sustained momentum that led Kerala to undergo a notable social transformation in relatively short period of time and further played a very important role in bringing about an educational revolution. The result is an enviable 100% literacy in Kerala – a benchmark that many states are trying to achieve, even now. Benefiting immensely by practicing and spreading the ideals of Gurudevan, the devotees of our beloved Guru strived tirelessly in this direction. They established organizations in the name of Shree Narayana Guru in whichever part of the country they settled in. Such organizations are now well established and recognized entities, all over India and overseas. They are the present day torch bearers in promoting communal harmony and universal brotherhood.
With changing times, networking and working collaboratively has been recognized as one of the most critical component in achieving success. Therefore it is time for Pravasee Devotees of Shree Narayana Guru to unite, countrywide and globally, with the objective of creating a strong and effective network of like-minded devotees – creating a common platform for our future generation.
Based on this line of thought, the “Universal Confederation of Shree Narayana Organizations” came into existence, getting inaugurated at Bhopal on 30thSeptember, 2012. Today this confederation has 41 such organizations, across the country, registered as member organizations and its strength is steadily increasing.
The Aims and Objectives of this Confederation are comprehensive, but more importantly its vision is to work towards the promotion of peace, equality and fraternity among all human beings, based on the teachings of Shree Narayana Guru through discussions, meetings, seminars, publications, knowledge sharing, socio-cultural and spiritual activities. It also coordinates between the various Organizations, Associations, Trusts, Guru Centres, Guru Samajams, Institutions or Societies functioning in the name of Shree Narayana Guru and provides a common platform for them to interact, support and help promote our Guru’s ideals and find solutions to issues or problems of common interest to the member organizations and their respective members.
Now that we have an active network available to enable the devotees spread all over India and abroad to interact with one another – the next step being planned is to publish a brochure and gradually putting in place an online directory enlisting information about the office bearers, at the helm of affairs of SNGC and member organizations. In today’s internet enabled environment, this will easily empower and encourage members to get in touch with each other – sitting in their homes and support a free exchange of views and information, for the mutual benefit of Guru’s devotees. It is very important to note here that Pravasee Devotees of Shree Narayana Guru settled across the nation and world – a floating population in a non-native land – need a robust and well – connected network to help them meet with challenges and enabling them forge a strong identity. For this, we need co-operation and active support from all Member Organizations as well as their members, to effectively implement and succeed in the vision and objectives of the Confederation. Without doubt, this will be for the benefit of one and all. It is my strong belief therefore that “together we can and together we will” transform this vision into reality, and leave behind a proud legacy, that future generation of Pravasee devotees of Shree Narayana Guru can build upon and enrich.
Let Gurudharmam prevail !!!
