Sree Narayana Guru was a Saint, Philosopher, Visionary, Prophet of Non-Religious Spirituality and Universal brotherhood as well as a Social Reformer born in Chempazhanthy – a village near Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala in an era when the society was highly caste dominated and people were subjected to grave discrimination and severe social injustice on the basis of their caste.
A Guru is an awakener. He arouses people from their phenomenal ignorance. Sree Narayana Guru after attaining spiritual enlightenment turned back to the society immersed in caste based superstitions, unholy rituals and evil practices. He stood against the caste system and worked on value based freedom in spirituality, social equality and thereby led the society into a massive transformation.
Sree Narayana Guru led an austere life with meditative thought and yoga and subjected himself to extreme penance for a long period in a cave on a mountain known as “Maruthva Malai” on the western ghat and had attained enlightenment. He is revered for his Vedic knowledge, poetic proficiency, application of the philosophy of non-duality for value based social living, significance of being open to the views of others, non-violent approach and his unrelenting resolve to set right the social disorders prevailed in the society. Sree Narayana was Instrumental in setting the spiritual foundations for social reformation demolishing the structure of caste fabric paving path to social emancipation for value based society. He is adored as a Prophet. Guru stressed the need for the spiritual and social liberation of people by their own efforts through education.
Atmopadesa Sathakam (one hundred verses of self-instruction) written by the Guru in Malayalam is considered as a fertile poetic expression, encapsulating the Guru’s philosophy of egalitarianism, emanating from the author’s attainment of an experienced state of primordial knowledge and epitome of the Universe; and His ability to view the human race from a dignified and elevated perspective, as nothing but of a genus, in unqualified equality and without any racial, religious, caste or other discriminations whatsoever.
The Guru has 62 works written in Sanskrit, Malayalam and Tamil to hit credit. Arivu; Darsana Mala; Adwaitha-deepika; Brahmavidya-panchakam, Vedantha-suthram; Nirvruthi-panchakam, Homa-manthram, etc. written in Sanskrit and Atmopadesha-sathakam, Daivadasakam, Anukampa-dasakam, etc. written in Malayalam are some among His Philosophy based prominent poetic contribution.
He was the first in Asia and second in the world to organize an All Religion Convention in his Adwaitha Ashramam at Aluva, in Kerala where People from all Religions had assembled. He had thus made a platform for all Religious people to learn about other’s Religion and thus to realize that the ultimate objective of all religions are similar for the mankind.

ABOUT UNIVERSAL CONFEDERATION OF SREE NARAYANA GURU ORGANIZATIONS (SNGC)
The Universal Confederation of Sree Narayana Guru Organizations (SNGC) owes its origin to the strong desire of Sree Narayana Guru’s devotees in India and abroad to forge a universal bond to work for the welfare of humanity on a worldwide problem. Guru’s philosophy on Oneness which leads to universal brotherhood is the inspiration behind the Organization. The SNGC is committed to work for the promotion of peace, harmony, prosperity, equality and fraternity among all the human beings beyond the boundaries of caste, creed, religion, region, colour and language in line with the teachings of the Guru. Being a global organization, our foremost vision is to work for the Universal Brotherhood on Guru’s principle.
To begin with, we needed to establish a strong network with bonding relationship among the Sree Narayana Guru Organizations functioning across the globe and work for practicing the teachings and philosophy of the Guru. SNGC, set up on 30th September 2012 at Bhopal in an inaugural convention attended by eminent persons representing various organizations from all over India and abroad is the Apex Organization of these member / affiliated organizations established in various parts of the Country / Abroad to work for the Universal Brotherhood based on the Guru’s principle.
The confederation formulates plans and programs on a wider platform coordinating the member / affiliated organizations apart from their own activities for setting up and running of cultural, educational, economical, spiritual and social welfare institutions / activities in order to realize the vision of Sree Narayana Guru.
From an Initial strength of 20 (twenty) member organizations, SNGC has now grown in size to a membership of 62 (sbdy two) organizations spread all over India and abroad. The member organizations – large and medium- are established and worlding in all major and medium cities and other parts of India. The office bearers of these organizations hall from different backgrounds and are extending very valuable services in various spheres of the society under the auspices of their organizations.
The Initiatives taken by the Member Organizations of SNGC are mostly in social & service sectors like setting up and managing of educational Institutions, hostels, cooperative sector activities; conducting cultural programe, organizing alliance meets (Vivaha sangamam), pilgrimages, etc. The largest among the member organizations of SNGC is the Sree Narayana Mandi Samiti, Mumbai, which has large level membership in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Apart from other social activities, they have established their presence in the educational sector of Mumbai by organizing and running number of schools; colleges; technical institutions; cooperative organisation, etc. In Mumbai and Navi Mumbal. The subsequent large member organisations who have established their footprint in their respective areas on educational sector by establishing and successfully running Schools, Colleges and Technical Institutions are in Ahmedabad; (Gujarat); Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Hyderabad (Telangana Bhilai and Raipur (Chhattisgarh), etc. All the abdy two member organizations have made their presence felt in their respective areas by rendering various social, educational, cultural, spiritual and economic services directly or through cooperative societies. With the establishment of SNGC, now the activities of Sree Narayana Guru Organisations are brought up to national and International level through its platform
The foremost effort of SNGC is to develop system and organize platforms for the study and research on the philosophy of the Guru enlightened through His Works originally written in Sanskrit, Malayalam and Tamil through the Incorporation of them into the educational system and by organizing seminars, workshops study classes and other ideal means for It. The association of SNGC with Mumbal University has paved the way for running of different academic programmes on the philosophy of Sree Narayana Guru In the University, providing a great opportunity for the youth studying philosophy in Mumbai University especially the non- malayalam students to study and research on the Guru’s philosophy.
The most significant area of SNGC is development of an international network for inter-organisational communication and coordination of services to mankind on a larger spectrum. This has developed a wide network of the non-resident Keralites living/migrated to different states of the Country & Abroad attaining social, educational, economical and political strength to work together for the well being of Society in line with the Teachings of the Great Guru.
